After attending a performance of Waterwell Production's The Persians last summer, Gifford Booth, Director of TAI, donated rehearsal space at TAI for Waterwell's next production. This has enabled Waterwell to give raises to the artists, thereby earning Gifford the grateful thanks of everyone involved with the project.
Waterwell Production's is a not-for-profit theatre production company founded by Arian Moayed in Bloomington, Indiana, dedicated to presenting new and original forms of theatre, often addressing controversial issues such as AIDS or Middle East politics.
The company also runs an Educational Outreach Program designed to provide underprivileged junior high and high school students with acting classes they would not normally be able to afford.
On receiving the award, Gifford said: "Waterwell is doing groundbreaking work in New York theatre, both creatively and for young students in the City. It's an honor to receive recognition for collaborating with such an exciting company."
